Why we design + build.
We started as a design practice. For years, we were the team you brought in to figure out what a space should become. We worked with contractors across New York City and watched what happens when design and construction operate separately. The vision gets negotiated away. The details that mattered get cut. Nobody is accountable for the gap between what was drawn and what actually gets built.
We are not willing to leave that gap open.

Dylan GoulD, AIA / foUNDER
diRECTOR OF DESIGN
Dylan has worked in design for more than 20 years. As a licensed architect and Director of Design, he leads the strategic planning and design on Cargo Workshop’s projects, from first sketch to finished detail. He walks into a space already thinking about what it should become.
Dylan grew up with a set-designer father and a fashion-designer mother, and spent his early career behind the scenes of Broadway shows and international musical productions. He learned early that materials tell a story, and that the craft of turning a concept into something real is where design either proves itself or doesn’t.
He could tell you fifty ways to make a space work. What he wants to know is which one is undeniably you.
Javier Carcamo / foUNDER
diRECTOR OF operations
Javier has spent more than 20 years in New York City construction, building expertise in zoning, building codes, and the regulatory process that governs what gets built and how. As Director of Operations, he leads projects from planning through close-out: managing the build, the subcontractors, the DOB filings, and the board approvals that come with any serious NYC renovation. For more than five years, he also served on Manhattan Community Board 9 in Harlem, which means he understands the city’s approval process from the rooms where those decisions are made.
Born in Peru, Javier started doing construction in high school. That foundation shows in how he works: hands-on and direct with clients about what to expect and when to realistically expect it (whether you like that or not).
JIMENA GALVEZ
OFFICE MANAGER
Throughout her career, Jimena has supported teams across a variety of industries, including architecture, construction, real estate, technology, and education. Her experience working with companies in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, while collaborating with multicultural teams, has given her a broad perspective and the ability to adapt quickly to different teams, workflows, and ways of working.
At Cargo Workshop, Jimena supports the day-to-day operations that keep things moving forward. From supporting projects to improving internal processes and collaborating with clients, internal teams, and external partners, she enjoys fast-paced environments where organization, clear communication, and follow-through make a real difference, helping teams stay aligned and focused on delivering their best work.
MARIUS CALIN, RA
design manager
Marius has interacted with every facet of designing and building a space in his over 25 years of experience. A licensed architect for 10 years, he approaches every project with one intent - creating visionary spaces that best balance the needs of a client, while pushing the limits of available resources. He draws inspiration from the eclectic history of New York City, as much as he does from his frequent visits outside of it.
Born in Romania, and raised in Queens since the gritty 80s, Marius enjoys seeing projects through from the sketching out of schematic layouts shape projects, to being onsite in the thick of the construction process.
CHRIS PULETZ
build manager
Chris Puletz is a skilled sheet metal worker and construction professional with extensive experience on large-scale commercial construction projects. A proud member of Local 38 Sheet Metal Workers Union, Chris has built a reputation for strong leadership, quality workmanship, and a commitment to safety.
Chris has served as a Construction Supervisor for DAGIT/Action Construction in New York State, overseeing complex commercial construction projects. He also worked as a Disaster Relief Construction Supervisor for BMS CAT, managing restoration and reconstruction efforts following disasters and helping return homes and businesses to operation as quickly and safely as possible.
Throughout his career, Chris has contributed to several high-profile projects, including multiple casino developments and the construction of UBS Arena, home of the New York Islanders on Long Island. With a hands-on approach, extensive field experience, and a dedication to excellence, Chris consistently delivers reliable results while building strong relationships with clients, contractors, and fellow tradespeople.
MOHAMMAD GHEITH
build manager
Mohammad's passion for construction began early, growing up immersed in the family business and gaining hands-on experience in residential and commercial construction. Eager to broaden his expertise, he attended the Spitzer School of Architecture in New York City, where he developed a strong foundation in design, building systems, and project coordination.
After graduating, Mohammad founded a company specializing in existing conditions documentation, providing accurate building information to design and construction teams across the country. He has worked alongside architects, engineers, contractors, and owners, developing a unique ability to bridge the gap between design intent and field execution.
Today, at Cargo Workshop, Mohammad leverages his background in construction and architecture to deliver high-quality projects for clients, trade partners, and project teams. He is known for his attention to detail, collaborative approach, and commitment to creating thoughtful, well-executed spaces.

It’s not showcase for the firm that designed it. We don’t have a signature look. We have a standard: spaces that are honest to the people they’re built for, and built well enough to hold up long after the project is finished.

The best projects we’ve done started with clients who came in open to discovering what they wanted. They ended with something more intentional, and more genuinely theirs, than anything they’d imagined walking in the door.

We’re curious people. We like figuring stuff out. And we take the time to understand who you are before we propose anything — because the right solution only becomes visible once we understand the people it’s meant to serve.

We’ll push back when we think you’re heading in the wrong direction. You’ll hear about the hard things in week one instead of letting it become a bigger problem in month four. That’s made for some uncomfortable conversations over the years. It’s also produced spaces that clients are still proud of a decade later.
